چکیده

We present an extension of the Bérenger Perfectly Matched Layer with additional terms and tunable coefficients which introduce some asymmetry in the absorption rate. We show that the discretized version of the new PML offers superior absorption rates than the discretized standard PML under a plane wave analysis. We also introduce a new method for applying the Mesh Refinement technique to electromagnetic Particle-In-Cell plasma simulations which takes advantage of the high rates of absorption of the new PML. We present the details of the algorithm as well as a 2D example of its application to laser–plasma interaction in the context of fast ignition.  2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

A Study of Bit Condition for Generation Rx -Mode Waves: Interaction of Particles with Z/UH-Mode Waves

Interactions of charge particles with electromagnetic waves have important effects (linear and nonlinear) on the propagation of electromagnetic waves, and it can somewhat play a role in generation of the new mode waves. Besides, the particle energies can play an important role in causing instability in plasma. The values of parallel energy of the particles have been calculated so that they can ...

One of the interesting Laser-Plasma phenomena, when the laser power is high and ultra intense, is the generation of large amplitude plasma waves (Wakefield) and electron acceleration. An intense electromagnetic laser pulse can create plasma oscillations through the action of the nonlinear pondermotive force. electrons trapped in the wake can be accelerated to high energies, more than 1 TW. Of t...

Application of adaptive mesh refinement to particle-in-cell simulations of plasmas and beams

Plasma simulations are often rendered challenging by the disparity of scales in time and in space which must be resolved. When these disparities are in distinctive zones of the simulation domain, a method which has proven to be effective in other areas ~e.g., fluid dynamics simulations! is the mesh refinement technique. A brief discussion of the challenges posed by coupling this technique with ...

گرم کردن پلاسما با امواج برنشتاین الکترونی از طریق واگردانی امواج عادی و فراعادی درلایه UHR

Magnetically confined plasma can be heated with high power microwave sources. In spherical torus the electron plasma frequency exeeds the electron cyclotron frequency (EC) and, as a consequence, electromagnetic waves at fundamental and low harmonic EC cannot propagate within the plasma. In contrast, electron Bernstein waves (EBWs) readily propagate in spherical torus plasma and are absorbed str...

Self-Consistent hot spot tracing particles by kinetic simulations: With the emphasis on Cusp particle entry

One of the most important advantages of particle simulation as compared to fluid simulation is the capacity for working with and tracing particles. In particle simulations, the test particle method is usually used to get some idea of the behavior of plasma or other substances. In this method, first, a small number of particles are injected into the frame of static electromagnetic fields. Then, ...
